Eleanor
Payson, LMSW, ACSW
Eleanor Payson is a licensed marital and family therapist, practicing
individual, marital, and family therapy for the past eighteen years.
Graduating from the University of Michigan in 1983 with her Masters
in Social Work, she has continued her education on issues ranging from;
chemical dependency and codependency, adult children of alcoholics,
narcissism and borderline personality disorders, relationship therapy,
and attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder.
In
1993, Eleanor trained personally with Dr. Harville Hendrix to become
a certified imago therapist. Harville Hendrix, Ph.D. in his book, Getting
the Love You Want, develops the concepts, techniques, and skills
of imago therapy. Helping couples achieve more rewarding and fulfilling
relationships is one of Eleanor's greatest passions and goals. She has
conducted numerous workshops teaching couples conflict resolution skills
and the beginning concepts of imago therapy.
Since
1993, Eleanor has increasingly specialized in the unique and challenging
difficulties that adults with attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder
face. Eleanor has been a presenter with Arthur Robin, Ph.D. at the national
ADDA and CHADD conferences.
Eleanor's
commitment to treating issues relating to narcissistic wounding over
the past twenty years led her to help people in codependent relationships
with narcissistic individuals. Her new book, The Wizard of Oz
and other Narcissists; Coping with the One-Way Relationship in Work,
Love, and Family, published by Julian Day Publications
can be purchased in selected book stores or by visiting her book
page. This book provides new insight and help for the layperson
who is struggling with the many confusing and painful challenges that
occur when in relationship with someone who has strong narcissistic
traits, or a narcissistic personality disorder.
