This workshop is designed to answer many of the most commonly asked questions regarding narcissism and codependency. With the use of visual aids, illustrative stories, and recovery tools participants will become educated and empowered to recover from the painful dynamics that occur when dealing with individuals who exhibit narcissistic traits or who have the narcissistic personality disorder. Clinicians who take this workshop will learn to be more effective advocates in helping clients as they establish healthier boundaries and reclaim and nurture their authentic being.
The material will:
- address the critical distinctions between narcissistic defense and the counter point issue of codependent defense
- clarify the continuum of healthy versus unhealthy self
- illustrate the dimensions of the healthy self
- discuss the problems and dilemmas that occur when dealing with the narcissistic personality disordered individual
- identify the dynamics of the narcissist abuser and learn interventions for self protection
- outline healing and empowerment strategies and interventions
- provide a menu of support tools for the continued healing and recovery efforts as participants face the ongoing challenges of these relationships
